Hulsman Timepieces is a luxury watch atelier in Heerde (Gelderland), The Netherlands, dedicated to creating bespoke mechanical timepieces. Founded by independent watchmaker Machiel Hulsman, the atelier translates a client’s ideas into original designs and develops truly unique watches from the ground up. Driven by a commitment to continuous refinement, Machiel aims never to make the same watch twice, but to explore new forms, techniques, and possibilities together with each customer. His work is guided by the values of craftsmanship, personal connection, freedom in creation, and inventive thinking.

Easy Perpetual (2025) souscription now open
The Hulsman Easy Perpetual is Machiel Hulsman’s inventive take on one of watchmaking’s most demanding complications: the perpetual calendar. Designed as a foolproof system operated entirely through the crown, it keeps all calendar functions synchronised and allows bi-directional setting without risk.
Housed in a compact 39mm gold case, the Easy Perpetual displays its calendar information in an unexpected way: two sapphire prisms, integrated into the caseband, refract the month and weekday discs to the outside of the watch. On the dial, a jumping crescent-shaped date hand, a day/night indicator, and a low-power reserve aperture keep the design clean and intuitive, while the floating balance—suspended beneath a sapphire bridge—forms the visual centrepiece.
The hand-wound movement offers 90 hours of power reserve and incorporates multiple safety mechanisms, including a reinforced crown stem and a locking system that prevents exiting the setting mode when the date is incorrect.

Marie-Elise (2019) Time only
Meet the first entirely handmade Dutch wristwatch;
Rose gold case with open lugs and a silver guilloche dial with heat blued steel hands and indices. The manual wound mechanical movement has been designed, calculated and manufactured from scratch.
The movement features hand cut and polished rubies in the barrel as well as many other hand cut rubies like the pallets and impulse jewel, 20 jewels in total.
Inside the movement there is a triangle shaped pallet fork made from hardened steel, an innovation that is lighter than a regular pallet fork and is more efficient. The movement offers a power reserve of 46 hours. The 3/4 platine with blued screws and gold chatons shows the black polished balance bridge.
Côtes de Genève, perlage, anglage, black polish, etc. have all been executed to the highest standards.

Solstitium (2021) Tourbillon
This double barrel tourbillon is made for a Dutch customer and meanwhile friend. It has a yin-yang kind of feel to the dial and an ancient solar sign, fused into the tourbillon bridge at the back of the movement.
This tourbillon is a modest 39 mm wide and only 9 mm in total thickness: Extremely thin for a tourbillon, let alone for a retrograde minute and jumping hours watch. The tourbillon has a silver dial with baguette diamond indices.
The timepiece features a spring driven escape wheel (for direct impulse to pallets and shock absorbance of the big tourbillon cage), my own invention.
The manual wound mechanical movement has 75 hours of power reserve and has been designed, calculated and manufactured from scratch. The free sprung Beryllium copper balance with three gold balance weights beats at 28.800 Bph .
Côtes de Genève, perlage, anglage, black polish, etc. have all been executed to the highest standards.
